Purpose and Scope

These pages contain the coding guidelines for the minimum and conditional data items of the Aerodrome/Heliport subject as defined in PANS-AIM.

A defined area on land or water (including any buildings, installations and equipment) intended to be used either wholly or in part for the arrival, departure and surface movement of aircraft.

In an AIPĀ Aerodrome/Heliport information may be found in the following main sections:

  • AD 2. AERODROMES
  • AD 3. HELIPORTS

The information required to be provided by PANS-AIMĀ  is mainly those published in AD 2.1/3.1 & AD 2.2/3.2

Coding Examples

The figure below shows a simple example of the airport with the ICAO location indicator "EADD" used also as designator named "DONLON/Int".

It serves the city of "Donlon".

EADD has a defined Airport Reference Point.

The magnetic variation at the airport was measured "1990" and with "3 degrees West" and is since then "decreasing 0.03 degrees".

The field elevation is "30 Meters" and the corresponding reference temperature is "21 degrees celcius".

The "Civil Aviation Adminstration" operates the airport.
