The RouteAvailability class is used to define the direction of the RouteSegment. AIXM provides the possibility to encode if a route segment may be available for just one direction, i.e. 'FORWARD', or 'BACKWARD', or 'BOTH' directions.

titleAIXM 5.2 Improvements

A change proposal (AIXM-545) for the next AIXM 5.2 version has been approved by the AIXM Change Control Board, which introduces a new data type to address the withdrawal of value BOTH in RouteAvailability.direction

The coding guidelines provided here are aligned with forward/backward conversion rules contained in the AIXM-545 Change Proposal.

The value 'OTHER' should not be used. Also 'BOTH' should be avoided as for the different direction a different level series will apply. In case a of a bidirectional route, two records shall be encoded - one for forward and one for backward.

In addition, the AirspaceLayer class may be used to encode limitations on the vertical levels. In case the AirspaceLayer class is used to encode vertical limits, they shall correspond with the values specified in the StandardLevelColumn.

titleAIXM 5.2 Improvement

A change proposal (AIXM-433) for the next AIXM 5.2 version has been approved by the AIXM Change Control Board, which allows to specify the availability of a complete Route, as a complement to the existing possibility to specify the availability of each individual RouteSegment.

The coding guidelines provided here are compatible with the backward conversion rules contained in the AIXM-433 Change Proposal.
