The height/size of a man-made obstacle can change during its lifecycle - from planning, through construction, to completion and, in time, demolition. This process can sometimes be quite lengthy and as a result, some obstacles may need to be published when they do not exist yet (i.e. planned), but which will do at a defined point in time or at least the protection area for them must be made available to allow for their construction. Consequently, information can be made available when the obstacle is still in planning or construction status. It should be noted that the position and height of an obstacle may be different during the planning/construction and when completed (e.g. removal of the crane, addition of antennas on top)
ICAO provisions do not require information about the status of an obstacle, but EUROCAE ED-98C/RTCA DO-276C defines an attribute 'Status' that provides the following indications: “planned”, “under constructions” or “completed”.
EUROCAE ED98C: 3.3.21 Status
Definition:Status of an obstacle(EUROCAE ED-119C / RTCA DO-291C)
Data Capture Rule:When an obstacle is being builtand surveyed in the field,an indication “planned,” “under construction”or “completed”shallbe provided [OBST-R041]
EUROCAE ED-119C: 3.6 OBSTACLE FEATURE CATALOG
In AIXM 5.1.1 the attribute constructionStatus of the class VerticalStructurePart can have the following values:
- use the VerticalStructurePart.constructionStatus
