This page contains the mapping for the following data items as defined in PANS-AIM, chapter 5.3.3.1.1
b) Special activity airspace (type, name, lateral limits, vertical limits, restriction, activation);
These properties which are considered as minimum AIP data set for Special activities airspace are mapped to the following main AIXM 5 features:
Besides the minimum AIP data set items, additional data items specified in the following sections of Appendix 2 of PANS-AIM - which are marked with #AIP-DS# - are taken into consideration for the mapping. In the context of this mapping, these properties are conditional AIP data set items.
- ENR 5.1 Prohibited, restricted and danger areas
ENR 5.2 Military exercise and training areas and air defence identification zone (ADIZ)
- ENR 5.3.1 Other activities of a dangerous nature
- ENR 5.5 Aerial sporting and recreational activities
Note
"ENR 5.3.2 Other potential hazards" & "ENR 5.6 Bird migration and areas with sensitive fauna" are not marked as #AIP-DS# in the PANS-AIM.
PANS-AIM | Description (PANS-AIM) | AIXM 5 | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|
Type | Type of special activity airspace Note 1 type: Prohibited Area, Restricted Area, Danger Area, Military Execise Area, Military Training Area, Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ), Other | Airspace.type Airspace.localType Airspace.controlType | The localType attribute may be used for those types for which the AIXM attribute Airspace.type does not provide a dedciated value. Open Question TBD: For military airspaces controlType is included in the mapping? Besides some exceptions, AIXM does not provide dedicated type values for military airspaces (e.g. Military Training Area). Such airspaces are encoded with the corresponding controlType equal-to 'MIL'. |
Identification | The identification assigned to uniquely identify the airspace | Airspace.designator | |
Name | The name given to the airspace by a responsible authority | Airspace.name | |
Lateral limits | The surface defining the horizontal shape of the airspace | Airspace.geometryComponent.AirspaceGeometryComponent.theAirspaceVolume.AirspaceVolume, Airspace.geometryComponent.AirspaceGeometryComponent.theAirspaceVolume.AirspaceVolume.horizontalProjection.Surface.horizontalAccuracy | |
Vertical limits - Upper limit | The upper limit of the airspace | Airspace.geometryComponent.AirspaceGeometryComponent.theAirspaceVolume.AirspaceVolume.upperLimit, Airspace.geometryComponent.AirspaceGeometryComponent.theAirspaceVolume.AirspaceVolume.upperLimitReference | |
Vertical limits - Lower limit | The lower limit of the airspace | Airspace.geometryComponent.AirspaceGeometryComponent.theAirspaceVolume.AirspaceVolume.lowerLimit, Airspace.geometryComponent.AirspaceGeometryComponent.theAirspaceVolume.AirspaceVolume.lowerLimitReference | |
Restriction | Type of restriction or nature of hazard | Airspace.activation.AirspaceActivation.activity | In addtion AircraftCharacteristic may be used to define the type of restriction in more detail. |
Activation | Information on system and means of activation announcements together with information pertinent to civil flights and applicable ADIZ procedures; | Airspace.annotation.Note.propertyName equal to 'activation' .translatedNote.LinguisticNote.note | |
Time of activity | Time interval when the special activity takes place | Airspace.activation.AirspaceActivation.timeInterval | |
Risk of interception | Risk of interception in the event of penetration | RulesProcedures.affectedArea, RulesProcedures.category, RulesProcedures.content | Only required for Airsapce.type equal-to 'ADIZ'. The property affectedArea is used to relate the concerned airspace to the rules and procedure for interception. AIXM provides a dedicated vallue for the title attribute for the interception of civil aircraft. The remaining attributes may be used to specify the interception rules/procedures in more detail. |
