New policy with Confluence access

Sent mail on 11 Sep [+]

Dear SITCOM and SSCONE member,

We would like to make some changes to the way we manage our two Confluence sites. These changes are intended to increase the efficiency and openness of the SITCOM, SSCONE and SWIM-TI groups.

Supporting Material area (https://ext.eurocontrol.int/swim_confluence/display/SWIM)

We will stop the ability to make direct comments and edits on these pages. This move was already explained in previous SITCOM and SSCONE meetings and allows us to ensure that the supporting material is stable and can be cited.

Future changes to the supporting material will be handled through the communities of interest area.

Communities of Interest area (https://ext.eurocontrol.int/swim_confluence/display/SCOI)

We will remove the need to have an account in order to read these pages. This move will allow easier access to the working materials and notes of meetings for all members of the communities, not just those with a Confluence account.

This move also means that people who are not a member of either community will be able to see the content. This will increase the openness of the discussions that take place in the communities. However, "anonymous" users will not be able to make comments or edit the pages.

Therefore, we will give accounts to those members of the community who are active on a certain topic. This account will allow those members to leave comments, edit pages, etc. in the same manner as now.

Those of you who are already actively commenting and editing will retain your accounts. This, of course, means that the accounts will be removed from many of you. However, this should not impact you given you can still read the pages.

We hope to have the changes in place by the end of this month. Let us know if you have any concerns and we will attempt to address them.

Scott and Walter

Changes in SITCOM - mail from 23 Sep [+]

Dear SITCOM member,

You will have seen a lot of activity on Confluence today. The good news is that you can ignore it! Here is my summary instead.

I have been updating the Confluence site as follows:

 Freezing the Supporting Material (https://ext.eurocontrol.int/swim_confluence/display/SWIM)

I have deleted all of the comments that were attached to the Supporting Material. The comments have been stored off-line in case we need to check anything in the future. The comments that have not been addressed have been recorded as action items in SITCOM.

Tidying the SITCOM Materials (https://ext.eurocontrol.int/swim_confluence/display/SCOI/SITCOM+-+SWIM+Information+Community+of+Interest)

I have made several changes to the SITCOM material in order to tidy it up:

  • The meeting schedule has been moved to https://ext.eurocontrol.int/swim_confluence/display/SCOI/SSCONE-SITCOM+Meeting+Schedule
  • Better navigation has been put in place
  • The existing comments have been backed-up and deleted in a way similar to that for the supporting material
  • Mentions of names (other than EUROCONTROL staff) have been removed
  • A caveat has been added to each SITCOM task page to make the status clear (working and ‘not for operations’)
  • Several other tidy up things…

I have also added the draft agenda for Thursday’s WebEx: https://ext.eurocontrol.int/swim_confluence/display/SCOI/2019-09-26-SITCOM

Thank you for your patience while I made all of these changes. I think the deluge will stop for now.

Scott

Changes in SSCONE area

SWIM Supporting Material v1.0.0 Alpha

Changes in SSCONE Handbook area

Decide on F2F

Question: Should we hold a SWIM COI F2F on the day after the workshop (12 Dec)?

outcome:

A SWIM COI F2F will be organised. It will include plenary and SITCOM subjects. See tentative agenda at 2019-12-12 SWIM COI F2F.

Update on SITCOM tasks

The updated task list is at SITCOM Tasks

Review the changes marked as "implemented and to be reviewed" on https://ext.eurocontrol.int/swim_confluence/display/SCOI/Maintain+supporting+material. Email sent on 10th September to detail the changes. No comments received so the edits are accepted. The status of the items will change to "completed".

Discuss item 10:

Update on SSCONE tasks

The updated task list is at SSCONE Tasks.

Feedback on actions

The discussions on comments from Renato lead on a series of actions.

Service Identification Document (SID)

Making the "A-CDM services identification document" available as an example. See -Service Identification Document

Comment : This would be a good idea to work on. It relates to the Basic steps to new services, specifically to the identification step in the Service Orientation Process. It could result in a template for use by others.

outcome:

No review comment. The SID example is decided to be good as is.

Comment on Conformance assessment

Receveid comment about "Recommended requirement not satisfied" within Conformance assessment report

I would personally prefer to use a different symbol for this status. I would recommend the usage of a triangular sign with an exclamation mark in it. You can activate this in Confluence by typing ( ! ) without the spaces. The result would be
After all not complying with a recommendation should point the user's attention but it is not per definition wrong/rejected as the "thumbs down" symbol suggests.

Question: Is it ok to use (thumbs down) instead of (warning) in conformance assessment.

Impact on handbook: Conformance assessment report; Conformance assessment - Donlon example

outcome:

No direct comment on the proposal. Comments open until newt webex (18/11).
