Update on tasks

Task list

The updated task list is at SSCONE-SITCOM Tasks.

Completed tasks

  • No updates on the work we handed-over since last meeting.updates if any
  • The updates to the SWIM Service Description Specification will be sent for formal stakeholder consultation in October.

Ongoing tasks

  • Service Metadata Schema
    • Start this task to ensure it is ready to support the updated service definition and description requirements.

Potential new tasks

  •  "review" some service descriptions
    • see whether they makes sense, can be improved, and could become "reference examples"
    • see how the Registry is mapped to the schema and the specification
  • supporting material
    • naming conventions e.g. topics for AMQP subscriptions
    • controlled vocabulary of verbs for functions
    • gazetteer of organisations to ensure consistent naming. Note, that SSCONE can agree the entries - the Registry has to implement them.
    • granularity of services e.g.
      • should SIGMET and METAR be separate services or can they be in one service
      • should request-reply and publish-subscribe interfaces be split into two services.
    • discoverability of services - how should information be added to service descriptions to allow them to be easily discovered e.g. tagging services
  • start documenting the SOA.
    • This is the SOA as it is implemented - built the aggregate picture based on actual services and how they relate etc
      • this will map information exchanges to values in the service categorisation schemes
    • How the Registry integrates
  • service definition supporting material

Any other business

  • EUROCAE-294 presentation/wiki/spaces/SCOI/pages/59606560
    • A basic outline of what to do and how to do it was given
    • A template is available that can be used by community members to review their services. A sample of these will be presented at the next meeting.
    • We can then identify examples that can be used by the group as a whole.
    • This will then allow us to work on the ecosystem

Any other business

  • EUROCAE-294 presentation was presented by chairman of WG104.
    • In summary, it contains guidance on developing SWIM Service Specifications in a EUROCAE context. A template is provided that working groups can use. There is, of course, no restriction on using the template in other contexts.
    • The guidance contains pointers to the SWIM Service Description Specification - ensuring conformance is achieved by the working group.
    • A "Specification" is closer to a service definition but can go further by e.g. including requirements that the service payload model shall be used by implementers.
    • Overall, the document complements the SWIM Service Description Specification.
