This page contains the mapping for the following data items as defined in PANS-AIM, chapter 5.3.3.1.1

i) FATO (designation, length, width, threshold point);

These properties, which are considered as minimum AIP data set for FATO are mapped to the following main AIXM 5 features:

Note:

In AIXM 5, the Runway and its associated classes are used to encode both Runway and FATO. The Runway.type attribute is used to define if the record is an instance of a Runway or a FATO.

Hence, a FATO has to be encoded as Runway with type equal-to ‘FATO’.

PANS-AIMDescription (PANS-AIM)AIXM 5Remarks
Threshold pointThe beginning of that portion of the FATO usable for landing.

RunwayCentrelinePoint.role equal-to 'THR'

Threshold point - PositionGeographical location of FATO threshold point

RunwayCentrelinePoint.location.ElevatedPoint,

RunwayCentrelinePoint.location.ElevatedPoint.horizontalAccuracy

Threshold point - ElevationElevation of the FATO threshold

RunwayCentrelinePoint.location.ElevatedPoint.elevation,

RunwayCentrelinePoint.location.ElevatedPoint.verticalAccuracy

The verticalAccurracy encoded refers to both the elevation and the geoidUndulation.
Threshold point - Geoid undulationWGS-84 Geoid undulation at FATO threshold position

RunwayCentrelinePoint.location.ElevatedPoint.geoidUndulation,

RunwayCentrelinePoint..location.ElevatedPoint.verticalAccuracy

The verticalAccurracy encoded refers to both the elevation and the geoidUndulation.
DesignationThe full textual designator of the landing and take-off area.

Runway.designator

LengthThe longitudinal extent of FATO

Runway.nominalLength

Runway.lengthAccuracy

WidthThe transversal extent of FATORunway.nominalWidth

AIXM 5 provides a Runway.widthAccuracy attribute. But accuracy is not specified for the width of a FATO in PANS-AIM.

PANS-AIM issue

For "TLOF width" and "Runway width" PANS-AIM defines an accuracy.
