The general requirements can be seen in two broad groups.
The first group can be regarded as requiring "metadata" about the information definition itself. The requirements allow a user to:
- identify an information definition by including, for example, the need for an edition and a reference date
- identify the responsible party
- decide on whether a particular information definition meets the needs of the user
The second group promotes the overall quality of the information definition by placing specific requirements on its concepts.
