If information service payload filtering is expected, a service definition shall include or refer to information about the filter encoding.

This requirement ensures that the precise meaning of the filter expressions is understood.

Completeness: If filter expressions are expected, verify that the filter encoding is included.

Note: Standards such as the spatial, temporal and logical operators defined in the OGC Filter Encoding Standard [RD 14] can be referenced.

  in the OGC Filter Encoding 2.0 Encoding Standard.

Example:

• The service shall support filtering based on logical, geographical and temporal operators including data set series, period of validity, geographical scope, limitations on use and title.
