AIP Data Set - Interoperability Guidelines
In addition to the Common interoperability guidelines that are applicable to all digital AIS data sets, some specific interoperability provisions are defined for the AIP Data Set. These are listed in this section.
Key assumptions
It is assumed that the purpose of the AIP Data Set is to ensure as a minimum the static data necessary for efficiently and safely execute the following operations:
- International IFR flight planning
- En-route air navigation (excluding departure procedures, arrival procedures and final approach/landing procedures, which are covered by a separate data set)
It is assumed that ‘static data’ comprises all long term changes (3 months or longer), including the data which is identified by the ICAO Annex 15 as being “operationally significant” and which needs to comply with the AIRAC cycle requirements.
It is assumed that dynamic data (temporary changes and short term permanent updates) may be made available as an optional complement of the AIP Data Set.
It is assumed that each AIP Data Set covers as a minimum the own territory and those areas over the high seas for which an ICAO Member State is responsible for the provision of air traffic services. This includes the possibility of the provision of data sets or air navigation services to be delegated.
It is assumed that if two or more States provide a joint AIP Data Set, the minimal interoperability rules are applied to all the data contained, as if the data was coming from a single State.
