Welcome
Objectives of this meeting are:
- ensure we are happy with the start point;
- ensure reviews can start – deadline is 19th September; and
- discuss what to do in the lead up to and during the drafting meeting
Task 1 – Prepare strawman
Various inputs were used:
- material presented during the drafting sessions for the specification;
- SESAR AIRM Compliance Framework and Handbook; and
- mappings discussed within the context of SWIM Governance Implementing Project Task 2.
This was augmented to fill in holes in a (hopefully) logical way.
Discussion
The review period looked tight. This is to facilitate the face-to-face meeting. There are additional review periods after the face-to-face.
Task 2 – Prepare text for introductory material
It is important to agree these sections early as they set the scope and expectations for the supporting material. The strawman material for these sections came mostly from material presented during the drafting sessions for the specification.
Next steps for Sections 1, 2, 3, 4
Before the face-to-face drafting meeting: Initial comment should be sent by 19th September. The comments will be integrated into the material.
During the drafting meeting: It is important we have an agreement on these sections by the end of the meeting.
Discussions
It is important to keep in mind that the materials produced here could be of benefit to a wider global harmonization effort.
Make clear that the syntactical interoperability is not in scope, only semantic.
Task 3-8 – General requirements
Initial questions
- Use of ISO 19115 for definitions. I used this as the source for definitions for e.g. SWIM-INFO-003. Is this acceptable?
- Sometimes I added implementation details such as “this is usually a string” in the examples. Is this acceptable?
- I have concentrated on using XML and XSD as the example formats. We will need to develop others. Are there any formats you would like to see examples for?
Next steps for Section 5
Before the face-to-face drafting meeting: Initial comment should be sent by 19th September. The comments will be integrated into the material.
During the drafting meeting: Review, edit, make comments for future work. Decide on how to do the future work.
Task 9 – Semantic correspondence requirements
Initial questions
At one point I made reference to a template spreadsheet for the semantic correspondence exercises. This came from one of the inputs used in building the strawman. Do we want to publish such a template?
Next steps for Section 6
Before the face-to-face drafting meeting: Initial comment should be sent by 19th September. The comments will be integrated into the material.
During the drafting meeting: Review, edit, make comments for future work. Decide on how to do the future work.
Task 10-11 – Examples, Mappings
Not much material available here. The example should be consistent with the text of the supporting material.
Next steps for Sections 7, 8, 9
Before the face-to-face drafting meeting: Initial comment should be sent by 19th September. The comments will be integrated into the material.
During the drafting meeting: Decide what we need as far as examples are concerned.
Discussions
Q: Can the template used in SESAR be shared with the group? A: Yes, it will be shared.
Q: Who owns the mappings? A: The working assumption has been that the owners of the objects under assessment own the mappings e.g. the AIXM CCB owns the AIXM mapping. Note that initial mappings have taken place but the results have not been published given that the AIRM was being developed. The mappings will need to be updated once the best practices, etc are made available by SITCOM.
Q: The XML examples remind me of ETSI examples. We can look at these during the face-to-face.
