Requirement

A service definition shall include the service categories to which the service belongs and, if applicable, reference the service categorisation schemes used.

This requirement supports decision making in terms of service suitability in relation to a particular operational context.

Note: The service category can be a keyword, a key phrase or a URI.

It is best practice to use a URI taken from a published service categorisation scheme.

Note: An ICAO Information Service Overview produced according to ICAO PANS-IM [RD 12] expects one or more of the following information domains to be applicable:

a) Flight information; and/or

b) Aeronautical information; and/or

c) Meteorological information; and/or

d) Environment information; and/or

e) Capacity, demand & flow information; and/or

f) Surveillance information; and/or

g) Other information

It is a best practice to include the applicable information domain in a service definition based on this list.
