Use of OTHER:... values

All AIXM list of values are open <<codelist>>. In addition to the predefined values (such as MON, TUE, WED, etc. for CodeDayType), it is possible to also use ‘OTHER:’ followed by a custom code. For example, the value ‘OTHER:3RD_MON’ could be used in a Timesheet to indicate ‘the third Monday of each month’.

However, it shall be kept in mind that any OTHER:.. will have a meaning that is unknown to the data user and might require human interpretation. Therefore, OTHER values should be used only where there is no corresponding value in the core AIXM list of values.

Permission

The Data Set may contain attributes that use the embedded codelist extension mechanism (‘OTHER:’ followed by a custom code), with exception of those attributes where the use of the ‘OTHER:...’ values is explicitly forbidden through the data coding rules.
