Navaid Distance to Runway Centreline Point
The diagram below shows the AIXM classes, including the relevant data types and code lists, needed to encode that information:
This information is not required for the minimum AIP data set, but is included in Appendix 1 of by PANS-AIM. It may also be published in the scope of an AIP (see figure below).
PANS-AIM Appendix 1 (Aeronautical data Catalogue) defines the following distances:
- Localizer antenna rwy end distance
- ILS glideslope antenna TRSH distance
- ILS marker TRSH distance
- ILS DME antenna TRSH distance
- MLS azimuth antenna rwy end distance
- MLS elevation antenna TRHS distance
- MLS DME antenna TRHS distance
The NavaidEquipmentDistance class is used to code that information. For that purpose a relationship between the NavaidEquipment and the corresponding RunwayCentreLinePoint has to be established via the navaidEquipment property.
The NavaidEquipmentDistance.distance and the NavaidEquipmentDistance.distanceAccuracy attribute is then used to code thee measured or calculated distance between the Runway Centreline Point and the Navaid Equipment.
AIP context
In general, in an AIP such information may be published in AD 2.19 / AD 3.18. Like in the example below where the distances from the Markers and Locators used as part of an Instrument Landing System (ILS) to the corresponding Threshold are published. In AIXM 5.1(.1) the published bearing can only be coded as an annotation.
Coding Examples
Coding examples can be found in the AIP Data Set - Specimen (DONLON):
