Additional Elements Fulfilling ISO 19115 (2003)

The ISO 19115 (2003) specification used in this document has a number of mandatory metadata elements. In many cases there is no explicit requirement for an ICAO data set to provide these mandatory metadata elements. However, they must be provided in order to be valid against ISO 19115 (2003) and therefore ISO 19139.
The table below lists the mandatory elements and gives their description. It then gives recommendations on which information is to provide in order to fill the element.

ISO 19115 (2003) metadata element	Description	Recommendations
Dataset title	Name by which the cited resource is known.	This should be used to provide the name of the dataset.
Dataset reference date	Reference date for the cited resource.	See guidance on DS-META-002.
Dataset language	Language(s) used within the dataset.	This should use the codelist value "eng".
Dataset topic category	Main theme(s) of the dataset.	This should use the codelist value "transportation".
Abstract describing the dataset	Brief narrative summary of the content of the resources(s).	This should be used to summarise the content of the dataset. This may include a statement that the dataset conforms to a specification. For example, the "EUROCONTROL Specification on AIP Dataset Coding through the use of AIXM 5.1.1, edition 1.0."
Metadata point of contact	Party responsible for the metadata information.	This should be marked as "inapplicable" or used to give the organisation name and email address of the party who added the metadata.
Metadata date stamp	Date that the metadata was created.	This should be marked as "inapplicable" or used to record a date.
